All the airport in Mexico, and a few in the Caribbean have time share "sharks" that will try to convince you to attend a time share presentation, or they may even try to convince you that they are your awaiting transfer company. If you get in a transfer with them, than you will be forced to pay for their services when you arrive at your destination. We suggest that you proceed thru these time share tanks with caution. Know that they are very convincing. Do not make eye contact and if they say anything to you, just keep on walking.
Here are some hints to help avoid them:
The time share sharks are always positioned between Customs and the transfer companies. Typically in a corrodior or room that you have to pass thru. Here are some hints to avoid them.
For Cancun/Riviera Maya Once you have cleared customs, you will proceed to the outdoors where your transfers will be waiting. You must travel down a long corridor to reach the outdoors. DO NOT STOP TO TALK TO ANYONE UNTIL YOU PASS THROUGH THE DOORS AND YOU ARE OUTSIDE THE BUILDING The people in the corridors are the time-share people! Once you have passed the gauntlet of timeshare people, and you are OUTSIDE…this is where your real transfers will be awaiting. Note: if you arrive in the new terminal, once you clear customs you will walk thru a long hallway filled with the rental car companies, than you will enter a room with sliding glass doors. This is the "shark tank". This is where the time share people are. Once you pass thru the shark tank and you are outside, you will have to walk down another long corridor before you reach the transfer teams. You will see the offices for the transfer companies on your left, do not stop there, just keep walking until you reach the people holding a sign with your name on it.
For Puerto Vallarta Once you have cleared customs you will proceed thru a room where the rental car offices are and people are standing around. DO NOT STOP TO TALK TO ANYONE IN THE ROOM OR IN THE CORRIDOR!! The people in this area are time-share people! Once you have passed the gauntlet of timeshare people, you will see a long glass partition, this is where your transfer company will be waiting for you.
For Cabo: Once you have cleared customs, you must travel thru another room, called the time share “Shark Tank” Once you have passed thru this room and you are OUTSIDE…this is where your real transfers will be awaiting.
Be sure to read your documents and know who your transfer company is, so you will know what company to look for.
